POLICE are tackling a rise in equine crime with a campaign backed by Crimestoppers and the British Horse Driving Trials Association.
The campaign is aimed at reducing the growing problem of tack and riding equipment thefts in Lancashire.
BHDTA spokesman Jack Giddings said: "Tack is expensive to buy and replace. If stolen, its only outlet is in the equestrian community and we're urging people to report any suspicious via Crimestoppers.
"This campaign will reinforce police advice that all tack is marked and that any suspicions about stolen equipment in circulation are reported immediately on the dedicated Crimestoppers hotline 0800 555 111."
