POLICE are warning girls to travel to school in groups after a 14-year-old girl was attacked as she walked down a narrow alleyway on her own.
The girl was late for school and was approached by a man from behind as she walked down a passage adjacent to Collins Road, Bamber Bridge, around 9.30am on Tuesday, October 19.
When she refused to talk to him, he put one hand on her bottom and she ran towards Brindle Road.
The attacker chased her for a short distance before turning back and fleeing towards Whitefield Meadow.
DC Keith Allen of Bamber Bridge CID said: "The girl is unhurt physically but is very shaken by the incident.
"We'd advise people to stay in a group or if they have to travel on their own and to stick to main roads, rather than alleyways.
"The attacker walked past a lady, who was wearing a pink coat and walking two small dogs, near Station Road.
"We would like to talk to this lady to see if she saw the man.
"He is described as white, 20, 6ft and slim, wearing a blue baseball cap, white jacket or tracksuit top with a logo on the front and possibly stripes down the arms, navy tracksuit bottoms and white trainers."
Anyone with details should call CID on 209749.
