I WOULD like to thank everybody for their help in securing refusal of planning permission for the proposed Woodbank Cricket Club-BT Cellnet telecommunications mast.
A special thanks must also go to our local councillor, Andrea Hughes, for her active participation and untiring efforts.
This was truly a team effort and while there were certain individuals worthy of special mention I think it only fair that everybody who got involved should be equally applauded. Without all their help this could not have been achieved.
It must be said that our assistance in various fund-raising proposals - including a National Lottery grant bid - was offered on more than one occasion and rejected by the cricket club committee. I feel sad that all the effort put in by everybody over the past six weeks or so has been, in the main, for a negative outcome.
It could all have been for the benefit of Woodbank Cricket Club and the community as a whole. The local community does support the club and enjoys the facilities on offer: what is lacking is better communication between the club and local residents.
PETER SWAIN,
chairman BADMAC,
(Brandlesholme and district
Mast Action Committee)
