WYMOTT Prison, Leyland, will host the country's first employer day for prisoners nextMonday.
Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere Rovers football clubs, Lookers Vauxhall and Nationwide Building Society are among the employers who are planning to send representatives along.
New Deal personal advisers from Southport Jobcentre, who have organised the event with prison officials, will be on hand.
The day will build on work done over the past 15 months by Southport Jobcentre and Wymott Prison in preparing prisoners for release.
The programme gives them the necessary help and training to find work quickly and settle into a steady and productive new life on the outside.
