CLITHEROE have issued a full apology to the FNWT League management committee following comments made by boss Steve Parry over a rearranged fixture.
Parry has been called before the committee to explain his comments and club chairman Steve Rush made the statement after a meeting with Parry.
In it, he admits that Parry's statement contained factual inaccuracies which he blamed on a breakdown in communication within the club.
That statement is as follows: "In the non-League section of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph last Friday there was a report concerning Clitheroe's games with Leek CSOB which contained a statement from manager Steve Parry that was incorrect.
"It is not true that the FNWTL management committee forced Clitheroe to reschedule our game against Leek to Shawbridge.
"Rather it was Clitheroe that requested this game be switched in an effort to restrict a fixture backlog later in the season.
"It is true to say that those members of the management committee involved in making alternative arrangements gave their full support and assistance. "Unfortunately, this situation arose due to an internal breakdown in communication leaving Steve Parry with the wrong idea as to the reasons behind the switch of venues."
The statement goes on: "Therefore, on behalf of Clitheroe FC, I would like to apologise to the FNWT League management committee for any misunderstandings this article may have caused, and assure them that there was no deliberate intent to question the decision surrounding events leading up to this game."
On the field, Clitheroe have a tough game at home to St Helens Town tomorrow.
The only change to the squad from the midweek defeat at Salford, is the return of forward Dave Worthington.
"It will be a test of our character because we were very disappointed with the defeat at Salford," said Parry.
"It wasn't simply the result, it was the manner of the defeat that was just as upsetting."
