PETER Allan bridged a nine-year gap when he won the BS Property Developments Lancashire PGA Championship at Southport & Ainsdale.
And he's hoping that history will repeat itself as he attempts to clinch the County Open title at De Vere Blackpool today, October 21.
For the 48-year-old Ashton-in-Makerfield pro pulled off the double in 1990 and he feels he's playing well enough to do it again. Allan owed his success to his putting - the part of the game that let down first round leader and three-time champion Ged Furey.
The Pleasington pro shot 69 in the first round but felt it could have been 62.
"At least seven putts lipped out. I was disappointed because I hit every green in regulation," said Furey whose frustration flowed over in the final round when a 72 relegated him to a share of fourth place with Royal Lytham's Scott Astin.
