OLD Arnoldian Mark Buterworth, now a third year student reading engineering at Exeter University, is flying high after being awarded a Royal Air Force cadetship.
Educated at Arnold junior and senior schools, Mark, of Blackpool Road, Ansdell, joins fellow Old Arnoldians Peter Wright and Gregory White in completing a unique hat-trick of service scolarships.
Peter, reading oceanography and physics at Southampton University received a Royal Navy scholarship, while Greg, reading computing at UMIST, has qualified for a scholarship in the Army, training at Sandhurst.
Headmaster Bill Gillen said: "All three began their service careers as members of the School Cadet Force.
"We are extremely proud of these young people for their success sets a most appropriate seal on celebrating the centenary of our cadet corps."
