Pilkington Recs A 38, Waterhead A 12
TITLE-chasing Recs virtually booted their way to victory with four of their first five tries coming from kicks.
After falling behind to an early Waterhead score, veteran scrum-half Johnny Smith got Pilks moving. He chipped though on the blind side and winger Dave Archer scored in the corner.
Waterhead regained the lead before Chris Phair collected his own kick to touch down. Recs were now on top and and centre Ste Edgerton scored from another Phair kick.
In the sceond half Recs kicking policy paid off when Phair collected yet another chip through to touch down. Fifteen minutes from time loose-forward Dave Price broke the line and ran 60 metres to score the try of the game.
Andy Burns added another home score before the visitors claimed a consolation try.
The Colliers Arms, Kings Moss, man of the match was Chris Phair, with Stu Mansfield, Johnny Smith and Jeff Albin also in form.
Pilks under 12s 36, Wigan St Judes 12
Recs turned round an early four-point deficit to take the spoils. Try scorers were man of the match James Campbell (2), Chris Key (2), debutant Danny Williams, S. McBride, Ste Houghton and top tackler Ryan Rogers, who added two goals.
Houghton and Key shared the coahces award and also in form were I. Redcliffe, M. Langley and C. Critchley. Awards were sponsored by Pilkington plc. Ince St Williams under 10s 8, Pilks 38
After scoring inside the first two minutes, Recs never looked back. Their try scorers were Gareth Frodsham (3), Thomas Armstrong (2), Sandy Lee, Danny Lynch, Paul Knapper and Tony Dingsdale.
The Dietiker Metals awards went to most improved Danny Filson, top tackler Sandy Lee, unsung hero Paul Knapper, coaches award winner Gareth Frodsham and man of the match Matthew Holding.
Pilks under nines 28, Leigh Miners Rangers 16
Solid defence and teamwork once again won the game for Pilks as they continue to improve. Scorers were Ryan Hilliard (two tries and a goal), Adam Moss (try and a goal), Mark Harmon (try and a goal) Matthew Twist (try) and David Saunders (goal). Man-of-the-Match was Shaun Pritchard, top tackler Dean Jones, coaches award winner Darren Quirk and most improved Daniel Harmon.
Pilks under sevens 28, Halton Hornets 36
Pilks tries were scored by man of the match Mike Sexton (4), Kris Foster, Beth Clitheroe and coaches award winner Rhys Williams. Top tackler was Matt Foreman, while Tommy Travis and Michael Donegan also caught the eye.
