WITH reference to the story about bus passes for the disabled (Citizen, October 7), I sympathise with Miss Taylor and I experienced a similar situation.
In 1986 I was issued with a Lancashire County disabled bus pass, but when I became 65 it was taken off me.
I had been retired on medical grounds and had to wear surgical boots, which I still do, because of my complaint.
I wrote to SIGH (Support In Getting Heard) and received a prompt reply which stated the reason the bus pass ceases at 65 is because the person then qualifies for a senior citizen bus pass.
Perhaps when I came 65 I was expected to dispose of my surgical boots and my illness would disappear!
I agree with Pauline Spence of Blackpool Age Concern, it is unfair.
Mr H Jones,
Gaskell Crescent, Thornton.
