POLICE investigating claims that a woman constable wrongfully arrested a man at an Accrington nightclub have passed a file on the matter to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The officer, PC Kate Weaver, claimed Tsagher Mahmood, 25, swore at her before his arrest at Afrika's nightclub in Blackburn Road.
A video tape from a club security camera showed the officer swearing at Mr Mahmood and seizing him by the arm.
Mr Mahmood, of Oxford Close, Blackburn, has said he intends to sue for wrongful arrest, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution after the incident.
He said he had complained to Lancashire Police and been interviewed by officers regarding his claims. A charge of threatening behaviour against Mr Mahmood was dropped by Hyndburn magistrates in February after the video evidence was shown. A charge of resisting or obstructing a police constable had been withdrawn at a previous hearing.
A Lancashire police spokesman said: "The case file has been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration."
PC Weaver, who has remained on duty throughout the investigation, is currently stationed in Accrington.
