ELLENBROOK is set to get a village green, shops, a nursery and medical centre.
An overgrown patch, once part of Mosley Common pit site, is earmarked for development on the corner of Bridgewater and Newearth Road opposite the Red Lion pub and St Mary's church.
Salford planners have approved plans for a two-storey medical centre with two doctors and two dentists, plus four single-storey shops a children's nursery and play area plus parking.
The village green and landscaping would incorporate an area with protected trees.
