MORE than 1,200 job seekers swelled Bury College this week in a bid to snap up around 300 vacancies.
Many local companies took part in the Jobs Fair to secure temporary staff for the busy Christms period.
Companies involved included Asda, Boots, Megabowl, Argos, Marks and Spencer and TGI Friday's.
Wednesday's event was organised by Employment Service.
Marketing manager Mr Mike Schofield said: "The fair was busy from the opening at 10.30am until 3pm.
"We had around 1,200 submissions for jobs. Up to 300 were on offer, the bulk of them seasonal short-term vacancies for the Christmas period. But at the same time, there were a number of full-time jobs on offer."
Around 65 per cent of those attending the Jobs Fair were young people.
