A SPORTS club, which faced possible closure three years ago, will today celebrate a fresh start.
Seedfield Sports Club in Parkinson Street will stage an open day starting at 3.45pm to mark the completion of a major refurbishment of the complex.
In 1996, the club was awarded a £32,500 Lottery Sports Fund grant to replace the building's roof.
Funds were raised locally towards the costs of improving the indoor sports facilities.
Without the grant, the club would have been forced to vacate the building for health and safety reasons.
Phil Openshaw, chairman of the self-management sports club, said: "The roof replacement and internal refurbishment works were completed some time ago but we are bound by Lottery rules to stage a grand opening.
"Tonight we will do exactly that and everyone is welcome to come along and see for themselves what has been done."
