TRADING standards officers and the police are working together to stamp out sales of fireworks to underage youngsters and police will be mounting patrols to target any youths messing about with fireworks.
As part of Operation Rocket, police officers will be liaising with the fire brigade on a daily basis to check if there are any problems with youths setting off fireworks and will target problem areas.
Police and trading standards officers will also be keeping a watchful eye on shops selling fireworks, to make sure that they don't sell them to anyone under the age of 16.
Anyone with information on sales of fireworks to children under 16, or misuse of fireworks can contact the police on 0151 777 6969 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Alternatively, on underage sales of fireworks contact the council's trading standards department on 456306.
