SIR John Mills thrilled an audience in Blackburn with tales from his long career - and raised thousands of pounds for a new theatre venue in the town.
The screen legend brought his one-man show to King George's Hall to raise money for the Red Brick Theatre Appeal.
The appeal target is £300,000 which, along with lottery funding, will be used to convert the old Empire Cinema at Ewood into a first-class venue.
Sir John, who has agreed to be patron of the new theatre, praised the audience at the show, 'An Evening with Sir John Mills,' which included clips from many of his films.
Appeal organiser Michael Berry, said the event had raised 'thousands of pounds' for the new theatre.
He said: "It was a wonderful show. Sir John was on top form. You could not believe he was 91. His memory is exceptional.
"We were delighted that for a speciality show such as this, the audience was approaching 500. It was absolutely superb."
