COLNE'S season took an upward turn on Saturday after it had looked like this First North Western Trains League Division Two clash was going to be the same old story for Denzil Hart's side.
The Reds' first win for over a month came courtesy of a glittering second half performance after Johnny Joyce had given the visitors a 16th-minute lead.
Steven Petty, standing in for the absent Mark Canning in goal, threw the ball straight to Town's Joyce on the edge of the area after some composed goalkeeping early on. The Oldham striker lashed the ball past Petty to put the visitors 1-0 up.
However, Colne came out fighting in the second half and got their reward when Vidale Spaine exploited gaps in the Oldham defence to equalise on 60 minutes.
Barry White struck five minutes later to put the home side ahead with a fine individual effort, before the lively Troy Hayder rounded off the scoring with a well-worked goal 15 minutes from time.
The Holt House men showed glimpses of how they can really play in this, the team's first taste of an upturn since playmaker Andy Smith suffered a broken leg in training a fortnight ago.
Smith has been the driving force behind their attacking play this season, but it would appear that Colne are over losing the midfielder if this performance is anything to go by.
