WITH league leaders Old Toll Bar away defending their LFA Trophy crown, second-placed Beehive would have expected to regain the top spot when playing bottom-placed Lord Raglan.
But the Raglan players obviously had not read the script and two well-taken goals from Paul Mashiter stung the Cherry Tree side who could only reply through Craig Barnes.
In the only other game in Division One two goals from Graham Coates, and a Neil Almond strike gave newly-promoted Servicemaster the points over Dexter Paints who replied with a Russell Woods goal.
An entertaining game at Pleckgate saw Cooper Rigg overcome a gutsy West End side and the eventual scoreline did not do West End justice. West End took the lead in the second minute when a Neil Thompson shot took a deflection.
Mark Gibbons levelled the game on the half hour, neatly placing his shot in the bottom corner. The second half was even until a cross-come-shot from Neil Cosgrove found the top corner of the net. This was quickly followed by an own goal from the unlucky Phil Harrison.
There were two further efforts from Matt Turner and Brian O'Keefe - the latter from a rare mistake by West End keeper Ray Kay - and Martin Dewhurst snatched a second goal for the Theatreland men in the last minute.
Park Inn and Wellington Samba contested a match containing eight goals. Unfortunately for the Park Inn, the Dance men scored six of them. John Neville had an outstanding game netting five goals the best of which was a volley from just inside the box, Lee McClelland adding the other. A Rob Neale double was the Parks reply. Lammack chased away the challenge of Fox & Hounds. A Lee Crook brace, one from Howard Best and two goals from veteran Phil Greenhalgh, his second a classic, where he rounded three defenders and the keeper and lashed the ball in from an acute angle.
The Fox and Hounds marksmen were Anthony Ferguson and Robert Kennedy. Despite winning 5-2 Lammack's man of the match was their keeper Jan Van Boeckel. Witton Inn gained ground on leaders Heys Inn with a 2-0 victory over bottom placed Darwen St Peter's, Neil Fuller and Paul Walker netting for Witton.
The top of the table clash in Division Three between Malt & Hops and Guide saw second-placed Hopsters scored five goals through Chris Walsh (2), Matt Anderton (2) and a strike from sub Carl Scott. Guide replied through Gary McGurk and Steven Almond. This victory takes the Hopsters to top of the league.
Sign & Poster shared four goals with GFR Plumbing, a double from Poster's Mark Elmer cancelled out by goals from Adam Cottom and Jason Brown for the Plumbers.
In the battle of the club men, Longshaw were much too strong for James Street as goals from Lee Oliver, Peter Thomas, Randy Nelson, Phil Woodford, Matt Wales and two from Steven Cooke testify. Graham Walmsley notched a consolation for James Street. Two goals from Craig Billington plus an own goal gave Crown Berger the points over Stanley Arms for whom Steve Ross replied.
In the third round of the LFA Trophy there were mixed fortunes for local teams. Marriotts Accountants eased into the next round with a 5-2 victory over Ossy Hotspur with goals from Gareth Lowe, Leigh Dickinson, two from Neil Fox and an own goal completed the scoring. Station travelled to Blackpool to play Bull Villa, but were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline. Pete Greenwood was on the mark for Station. King's Inn also travelled to the coast, but were defeated 2-0 by AFC Squires. New Gardeners striker Danny Kirby opened the scoring against Brindle, but the Gardeners were turned out of the trophy as Brindle hit back from Paul Curly, a double from Paul Heyes and a goal from World Cup star Jimmy Khan saw off the threat of Corning Comms, for whom Ian Roscoe netted.
Trophy holders Old Toll Bar travelled to Lancaster in defence of their crown to play Chieftain Academicals and conceded three goals. This proceeded to put the Toll Bar on the warpath and they scalped their opponents by hitting 15 goals in return.
