LIGHT and colour was the theme of a science week that brought children from a Blackburn school on a visit to see newspaper production at first hand.
Pupils of all ages at St Michael and St John's RC Primary School spent the week investigating colour photography, theatre lighting, tie dying, chromatography and finding out how their eyes work.
And a group of children from year five in the school came on a tour of our head office and printing plant to discover how light and colour are used in the design and printing of newspapers.
"The visit certainly gave children a lot to talk about and to do," said teacher Paul Naylor.
"They were particularly impressed by the size and noise of the presses and by the amazing jobs that can be done on computers."
The visit was followed by a school session of role play and drama with pupils acting out some of the newspaper jobs seen earlier and completing a reporting assignment.
