A COMPUTER route-finding package is showing drivers that the Grane Road is NOT the quickest route between Rossendale and Blackburn.
Grane residents have complained about the number of truck and car drivers who use the treacherous hilltop route as a "short cut" between the M66 and Blackburn, avoiding the A56 Accrington bypass and the M65.
But according to Microsoft's popular Autoroute Express '98 routefinding package, the "short cut" theory is misguided.
The Grane Road is quoted as the shortest route in mileage.
But drivers who ask for the shortest journey time from Rossendale to Blackburn are advised to use the M65.
