SICKNESS absence among council workers was costing Burnley about £1 million a year not including payments for replacement staff or overtime.
Coun Harry Brooks - who has raised controversy on the same subject five years later - said Burnley council staff took 14.3 days a year off work for sickness compared to the national average of seven days.
