HOUSEHOLDERS have been warned to be on their guard against bogus callers after a 75-year-old woman was targeted by a thief who claimed to have damaged her rear wall.
More than £1,000 worth of property, including jewellery and a handbag, was taken from her house in Richmond Terrace, Darwen.
Police believe the offender distracted his victim at the back of the house to allow another person to steal the goods.
He claimed to be working for a building company.
He is white, 5ft 8ins, with short brown hair, blue eyes and a local accent. He was wearing a reddish coloured anorak, blue jeans and brown boots.
