BLACKBURN Northern Club's Men's First team hosted Colwyn Bay at Witton Park and went down 2-1 after a hard-fought battle.
Blackburn had the majority of the ball in the first half, but failed to capitalise on several scoring chances, including many penalty corners.
Colwyn Bay however, made the most of their few chances and took a 1-0 lead midway through the half.
The second half was more of the same with Blackburn dominating throughout. A clumsy stick tackle on a Colwyn Bay forward led to a penalty stroke against Blackburn, which was convincingly converted.
Blackburn never gave up however, and pulled back to within a goal as Neil Bowker put it past the Colwyn Bay keeper after a scramble in front of goal.
The last 15 minutes saw Blackburn in an all-out frenzy to even the score, but to no avail and they suffered their third 2-1 loss in a row.
The ladies first team found the net four times however, in a 4-1 romp over Wigan. Carrie Horrigan led off the Blackburn scoring early in the first half with a skilful touch off a penalty corner strike. Sally Finnemore scored shortly after and Blackburn looked strong.
Wigan were awarded a penalty stroke in the second half and brought the score to 2-1. Blackburn quickly got the goal back, again from Finnemore, and Kathy Jackson put an easy one past the Wigan keeper to finish off the scoring.
