BACUP BOROUGH Under-14s 6

TODMORDEN COLTS Under-14s 0

BACUP began the game in a very shaky manner allowing Todmorden to shoot twice in the first few minutes, but Nathan Shackleton soon settled the team with a goal after 10 minutes.

Martin Peters scored five minutes later and scored again just before half time from a good through ball by Shackleton.

Peters was eager for his hat trick, which he completed soon after the interval. Jonathan Stocks tried his luck just inside the Colts half and watched in amazement as his shot trickled under the keeper. Shackleton scored his second of the game to settle the match at 6-0.

Despite a good performance, Jason Mannion missed a late penalty. Brett Doogan, Dean Gregory and keeper Craig Barnes all played well, and Tony Roscoe was named man of the match.

ROMAN ROAD 1

DARWEN Under-14s 1

IT WAS a very evenly-contested game which constantly flowed from end to end. Roman Road were first to go close when a long shot hit the outside of the goalpost with the Darwen goalkeeper beaten.

The home team took the lead just before half time when Murphy went on a run down the right flank before crossing the ball for Andy Kay to score with a good header.

Darwen equalised three minutes into the second half when Johnny Aspin crossed the ball into the Roman Road goalmouth and Johnny Singleton scored in the resulting goalmouth scramble. The game continued to be closely fought and both teams went close on several occasions with the ball being blocked and cleared off the goal-line at both ends.

A draw was a fitting result for this closely fought game and sets the scene for the next game against each other.

CLITHEROE 4

KNUZDEN YOUTH 0

KNUZDEN Under-17s travelled to Highmoor to take on Clitheroe in the Red Rose Assurance Blackburn Youth League and came away with what they deserved - nothing. However, all credit to Clitheroe who played really well. They were the better side all round and thoroughly deserved the three points. Knuzden's man of the match went to centre back Mark Cassidy who played well.

KNUZDEN SENIORS 5

PRINTERS ARMS 1

KNUZDEN Seniors took on Printers Arms in the Sunday Memorial League at Memorial Park and came away with three good points. A good solid all-round performance with goals from man of the match Kieron Keigher who scored four times and Paul Chippendale, also on target.

Knuzden Under-13s had a free date. This week they take on Rossendale Valley Aces at Haslingden High School in the first round of the Cup.
