BLACKBURN Rugby Club's Women's team tasted success recently at the Birkenhead Tournament by winning the Plate Trophy and and two of their youth players - 12-year-old Liam McArdle and Andy Brighouse, 16 - are to join in the Lancashire County feeder squad training sessions.
The Ramsgreave Drive-based club holds various regular training sessions for differing age groups and all new players will be welcome at the club.

BLACKBURN Under-7's
v ECCLES Under-7's
WITH both sides thoroughly enjoying their game, Blackburn pipped Eccles at the post three tries to two, their youngest player Billy Holden - aged 4 - was particularly engrossed in the game and tackled with gusto. A developing pattern of play ensued with the three girl players Jessica McGurty (captain), Lauren Nyhan and Katie Holden taking charge of proceedings for Blackburn!
BLACKBURN Under-8's
v ECCLES Under-8's
THIS was a game likened to several charges of the light brigade, Blackburn were narrowly defeated by one try in the end in a very exiting match. New player Joshua Libberton scored a try on his debut and fellow new player Louis Judge (captain) was exceptional. Ben Bridson was on usual form scoring two tries.
BLACKBURN PANTHERS
v ECCLES Under-9's and 10's
THE Under-9's are rapidly becomming a major force to be contended with. Captained by Mark Lake (2 tries), Blackburn won their game 6-3 through excellent running and try scoring. Other try scorers were Joe Holden (1), Aron Ashton (1), Gareth Turner (1) and Liam Oldham (1).
BLACKBURN TIGERS
v ECCLES Under-10's
ALTHOUGH losing this game five tries to two, it was possibly one of the most exciting encounters between Eccles and Blackburn for some time. The Tigers got off to a great start with outstanding performances from Andrew Clucas, James Caunce and captain Scott Riley.
BLACKBURN PUMAS
v ECCLES Under-11's
CAPTAINED by Michael Oltowski, this new side shows great potential despite losing narrowly by three tries to a well-drilled Eccles squad. Blackburn acquitted themselves very well with several new players putting in very good performances indeed.
The Pumas demonstrated great resolve and this was typified by the man of the match award being shared between Pat Ashworth (prop) and Edward Holden (scrum half).
BLACKBURN Under-12's
v ECCLES Under-12's
ECCLES won this game 12-7 in a closely fought contest with both sides evenly balanced.
Eccles had more of the early play and at half time were 7-0 up despite Blackburn going close on a least two occasions.
In the second half Blackburn had more of the possession but Eccles scored a breakaway try which was unconverted.
Good possession by Blackburn was often spoilt by handling mistakes caused by the wet conditions, but they scored a consolation try and probably were unlucky not to finish the contest ahead.
BLACKBURN Under-14's
v FLEETWOOD Under-14's
A COMMANDING and well deserved 36-10 win against the "old enemy" was celebrated by an in-form Blackburn squad.
Captained by Paul Fielding, the squad provided a very entertaining match that was sealed by a superb individual effort by James Euxton resulting in the try of the day. William Jordan was outstanding at stand off.
BLACKBURN Under-15's
v FLEETWOOD Under-15's
THIS was also a big game but Blackburn came off second best with what can only be described as a drubbing from Fleetwood.
Fleetwood were more organised at set piece play and were more alert to capitalise on chances in open play. This was an unexpected defeat and the squad will be keen to reverse their fortunes next Sunday against Keighley.
BLACKBURN COLTS Under-17's
v Bolton Colts Under-17's
THIS was both squads first game of the season. In the final analysis Blackburn were beaten by a better organised Bolton team, but showed a gritty performance which should quickly see a reversal of their fortunes.
Colts captain Luke Johnson Smith said: "We have a reasonable squad of players to choose from but are needing new players to join the club if we are going to succesfully compete against the bigger clubs in the region".
