ON A wet and breezy Sunday morning on the local landmark of the Nick-O'-Pendle, Dave Ebbrell of the Blackburn and District CTC was a clear winner of the annual Open Hill Climb promoted by the North Lancashire Road Club.
Ebbrell's time for the 1,400-yard ascent from Sabden was exactly four minutes which was almost 10 seconds faster than second-placed Phillip Evans of the North East-based Middridge CRT (4mins 09.9secs) with another Blackburn CTC member Ian Stott in third place with 4mins 11.0secs.
Backed up by Carl Helliwell (4mins 16.1secs) the CTC Racing Club were easy winners of the team prize with an aggregate time of 12mins 27.1secs. Jon Steer also Blackburn and District CTC, was winner of the junior prize with 5mins 03.3secs and another CTC member Sue Cheetham was fastest lady with 6mins 37.0secs.
