FORMER Wilpshire golfer Keith Dewhurst is the new English and Welsh Open one-armed champion.
Dewhurst held off the challenge of a 20-strong field to win the prestigious title by two points at the Cambridgeshire Moat House.
The event was organised as a 27-hole Stableford competition with a three-quarter handicap.
Dewhurst, 43, who now plays at Bolton Old Links, held a slender advantage after the first nine holes, scoring 18 stableford points with a gross 43.
And he picked up a further 34 points over the remaining 18 holes in the afternoon for a gross 88 which proved enough to secure the title overall.
"I was delighted to win it," said Dewhurst.
"I've won some club events at Wilpshire and Shaw Hill in my time, but this is the biggest win I've had in the one-armed world."
Dewhurst, who works as an IT Director at Multipart in Chorley, lost the use of his right arm after being knocked down by a car as an 18-year-old.
