A COUNCILLOR has been promised that traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum during North West Water engineering work on a congested road.
Contractors are working with temporary traffic lights from 8am to 6pm between Earnsdale Road and Hacking Street, Darwen.
Coun Dave Smith, who represents the Sunnyhurst ward, asked the company for a completion date and sought assurances that drivers would not be hit by lengthy delays.
Residents complained about problems with a similar scheme in the Earcroft area earlier this year, and there was a roadside protest after completion deadlines were missed.
In a written reply, North West Water's head of communications design and programme management said work was currently planned to take no longer than three weeks.
He added: "I am aware of the history of roadworks on the A666 and have been liaising with all interested parties to minimise any disruption to our customers."
Coun Smith said: "I have made a note of the expected completion date and will back in touch with the company if this passes and the work has not been finished."
