Division One: Blackburn Rovers v Queens Park Rangers - Peter White's preview

JOHN Filan would certainly enjoy a repeat of his recent clean sheet against Queens Park Rangers, when the Londonders travel North for the return clash at Ewood Park tomorrow.

But Blackburn Rovers' Australian keeper would also like to see his team-mates enjoy a little bit of luck at the other end of the pitch too.

Filan, who immediately accepted the blame for Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Walsall when he made a hash of a corner to present the home side with their late equaliser, has no doubts that it doesn't need much to turn things around for Brian Kidd's team.

He does feel, however, that it is down to the players to achieve the turnaround and not rely on anyone else.

So how do they pick themselves up from another shattering blow at the Bescot Stadium where they had so many chances to romp to victory?

"It's a personal thing, the players have really got to turn things around ourselves," said Filan.

"We created a lot of chances, could have won the game but didn't take them and, at the end, paid the penalty.

"That's the way a lot of games have gone. We have dominated but lost points by maybe individual mistakes.

"But the players have to take responsibility. I was responsible at Walsall."

Filan apologised to everyone for his error, even the fans. For he knows that, even though the players are looking a little anxious at times and struggling to clinch that elusive win, the supporters were right behind them again in numbers at Walsall. "If we had got to 2-0 it's different, especially the way we are at the moment," he said.

"We are a bit edgy. We got to 1-0 up and pushed for two and that would have settled us down.

"But the second wouldn't come and, at the end of the day, one error at the back has cost us."

He insists, however, that everything could change so quickly and Rovers could have the momentum going for them instead of seemingly against them.

And the keeper believes it could be something so small to make the difference that it might even seem insignificant at the moment.

"I think everyone thinks that and the fans know that," he added.

"As I have said in the past, it's just a little thing that needs to go for us and we are going to end up whopping someone four or five.

"But, at the moment, it's not really going in for us and we are getting sucker-punched week-in, week-out which is hard to take."

Rovers desperately need to end their lean run and there would be no better time than at Ewood tomorrow. Someone, surely, is due to be on the end of a rout soon.
