LEIGH residents up in arms over a new distribution company operating in their street will be able to sleep soundly again soon.
They have been given an assurance that the firm will be moving to new warehouse premises in a matter of weeks.
Pensioners in Arthur Street and Navigation Close complained that they are being aroused on weekday mornings at 5.30am by the beeping of juggernauts.
One said: "The road is only narrow, everyone is angry and it's making people ill."
Cllr Brian Thomas said: "The owner, Tony Walker, has done his best to co-operate.
"He has arranged for the vehicle to arrive at the premises an hour later, until the firm moves to Welch Hill Street.
"There are a lot of elderly people in the area who have been aroused by the reversing beeper for the past three weeks.
"I have explained the situation to them and they now seem to be quite satisfied."
