IT'S finally happened - the Seasiders picked up their first away victory on Saturday (Oct 23) since beating Preston six months ago.

And no-one is more delighted with the 2-0 result against Wycombe than manager Nigel Worthington.

However, the Seasiders boss left Adams Park with mixed feelings as star striker Brett Ormerod was carried off after 18 minutes with a broken leg.

"That was a big blow to us. Losing Brett for what will be nine to ten months is a big blow to the lad himself and the whole club.

"Now I'm looking to plug the gap. I've cleared it for Martin Aldridge to return here after I spoke to Port Vale manager Brian Horton who said he won't be signing him.

"Martin will play tonight (Wednesday) in the reserves, but like anyone else will have to earn his place.

"In the meantime I have a list of players I am scanning through to bring to the club, but that won't be until next week at least.

"But at the moment I am happy and I'm looking forward to the FA Cup match on Saturday.

"I just hope the players are looking forward to it as much as I am, it's a tremendous competition."
