LYTHAM ST ANNES 1ST XI 2 LEEDS 2
LYTHAM continued their excellent start to the season with a display of attacking hockey. In David Robbin's they have an outstanding player whose change of pace and skill caused the Yorkshire side problems throughout. Indeed, it was his run from the halfway line beating six defenders, that led to the equalising goal being well finished by a lively Craig Nuttall. At the start of the second half Leeds quickly went ahead, taking full advantage of some sloppy defending to the delight of their travelling support. Then David Hans, who was playing second fiddle to his older brother Paul for much of the afternoon, surprised all concerned by ghosting past a static Leeds back four and playing a lucky one-two with Robbins before mis-hitting into an empty net! The last ten minutes was totally umpire dominated with three playing being sent off.
LSA 2ND XI 1
CONGLETON 1ST XI 1
THIS was a good result against a recently promoted team who have not loft for 14 matches. The LSA team has several regulars missing, but nevertheless were well served by a number of youngsters still learning the game. Some outstanding goalkeeping from Danny Horne and a tireless display by Ollie Sinclair kept them in the game, and both teams had at best two clear chances of scoring in the first half which were not accepted. The second half started with LSA gradually taking a grip on the game and Richard Isherwood scored a good goal for them to take the lead. Unfortunately inexperience caused them to be caught on the break too many times and eventually a disputed penalty stroke award brought an equalising goal to the home team. LSA BEAVERS 1
