ST HELENS schoolboys under 15s crashed out of the ESFA Natiinal Cup when they were beaten 3-2 by Salford.

The St Helens scorers were Andy Kelly and Gareth Langley

It was a tie that brought back memories of 10 years ago when St. Helens had one of their greatest moments, winning the National Cup against a Salford team which was captained by Ryan Giggs. St. Helens won 3-2 over two legs.

Meanwhile, the town's under 13s lost 2-0 to Leeds at Ruskin Drive.

And the under 11s A lost 5-1 to Wirral. The wind played a major part in the game and Wirral took a four-goal lead in the first half.

It was too much for the team to claw back but Chris Powell scored a super individual goal from midfield. Chris Eden was man of the match.

The B Team travelled up to Leeds and had a thoroughly enjoyable day out, despite lsoing 6-1. Team manager Steve Bentham lost his keeper Michael Hill to an injury in the first half and was forced to play defender John Holmes in goal for the rest of the game. St. Helens goalscorer was Greg Brierly who netted a rebound from the keeper.
