Hoylake 23 Vulcan 3 VULCAN suffered defeat at Hoylake for the second time in as many weeks.
Hoylake took a 3-0 lead with a penalty, but straight from the kick-off the Vulcan pack went to work with Kay, Duffy and Griffiths earning Vulcan a penalty which Millard converted to level the scores.
Just before half time a Vulcan error allowed the home side in for a try.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Rigby and Jones both going close, but Vulcan failed yet again to convert their chances. For 30 minutes in the second half Vulcan held the opposition at bay with the entire 15 showing great courage in defence, but in the last 10 minutes Vulcan became tired and allowed two simple tries to be scored at the death. The man of the match was full back C.Millard.
This Saturday Vulcan entertain Newton at the Sportsfield. Kick-off is at 3pm.

A confident Vulcan outfit notched up their sixth straight win.
Hoylake who opened the scoring with a try after five minutes, but moments later Laughton levelled the scores. Coming up to half time Vulcan conceded two tries During half time Vulcan made a number of changes and debut boy D.O'Kelly finished off a move by Brown and then converted his own try tho make the scores 19-12.0'Kelly got on the scoresheet once more when he converted a penalty.
With minutes to go the ball went through a number of hands, with J.Cunliffe finishing the move in style.
