Liverpool St Helens nil Morley 48 LSH were once again the architects of their own downfall.
They made a number of unforced errors at crucial times.
But they were not helped by a spate of injuries that left them to play the last 15 minutes with 14 men.
Straight from the kick-off the home side suffered a blow when centre Neil Hull pulled a hamstring as he ran the ball out.
Despite this, LSH attacked strongly and a clever break by Liddle set up a scoring chance for Brooks, only for the ball to be knocked on.
The packs worked hard to establish supremacy and hooker Dadswell won two strikes against the head to win his own personal battle.
Eventually, however, Morley took advantage of the hesitancy in the re-organised LSH backs and scored two tries, one converted to take a 12-nil interval lead.
LSH need to score next to stay in contention. But Morley went further ahead with a penalty. And the Moss Lane woes were compounded when stand-off Simms had to retire with an injury, to be replaced by a back row forward.
As LSH struggled to re-organise Morley struck with a converted try. Worse was to follow. Winger Brooks took a heavy tackle and had to be replaced by a prop forward - the last of the replacements
The writing was now well and truly on the wall and LSH suffered another blow when McDonald had to go off with a bad cut, leaving his side with only 14 men.
With nothing to lose the home side took the game to Morley, but gaps were apparent in the LSH defence and the Yorkshiremen responded with four further tries, three converted.
