Pilkington Recs 16 Widnes Albion 5 A FINE all-round effort saw Pilks take the spoils.
An early Mark Jackson penalty gave them the lead.
But for the next 20 minutes they found themselves under the cosh.
It resulted in an unconverted try for the Widnes side. As half-time approached, Pilks broke through the strong-running Andy Traverse and Beard. From the play-the-ball Shaun Allen made good yards, before offloading to Jackson, who, in turn fed Killgannon for a try near the sticks. Jackson added the conversion.
In the second period Albion grabbed a drop goal. But the powerful Andy Crehan and Jackson made the space for Leadbetter to sprint 50 yards. It led to Burrows sending Jackson in for a try in the corner.
Pilks continued to press and they were rewarded with two penalty goals by Jackson.
Alan Fletcher took the Specialist Fireplace Supplies man of the match award, while others in from were Burrows, Rees and Ledger.
