COURAGEOUS Paul Cumming has battled back from serious injury to land a major award. For he was named as the Jewson League's player of the month for September. The 20-year-old Liverpool St Helens full-back was playing for the Scottish Exiles under 21s last year when he received kidney damage. He was rushed to intensive care, but fought his way back to full fitness. Now he's playing a major role as LSH try to revive their fortunes. The sports psychology student received his award from Jewson's Widnes branch manager Ian Hughes, before Saturday's game with Morley.
