JEFF Kenna believes it is only a matter of time before Blackburn Rovers get things right.
And Ewood boss Brian Kidd, convinced the club are on the verge of lift-off, is backing the Republic of Ireland defender's view.
But both men also admitted that what Rovers had produced so far was not good enough and Kenna accepts it is down to the players to come up with the goods.
"The pressure is there because we came down, we have such a good squad and we are seen as the big club in the First Division," said Kenna.
"But I think the fans demand success no matter what club you play at and Blackburn are no different.
"The results haven't been good enough, which our league position suggests.
"So the players have to get their fingers out.
"We didn't play particularly well at Walsall on Tuesday night but we did create a lot of chances as we have done all season.
"Unfortunately we can't seem to get the goals that get victories."
Is the fact that Rovers are missing so many chances at one end preying on the nerves of the defenders at the other?
"You would like to think not but, obviously, with the chances we are creating and not scoring that's going to happen," he said.
"Everybody's human.
"I don't know if it puts more pressure on but, obviously, goals win games and no matter what team you play against or how well you are playing in the course of 90 minutes you are going to concede two or three chances.
"At the moment, that's enough for teams to get either a win or a draw against us which is not good enough from our point of view.
"So we've got to sort that problem out.
"We've had a few little natters between ourselves and the staff to try and sort out what it is and you can't just say it's down to the front men.
"It's a team game. We are all in it together, as I am sure the gaffer's been saying. And it's up to us to sort it out together.
"What we need is for one to go in off somebody's backside, elbow or whatever - just to give us that little bit of luck in front of goal which will, hopefully, turn things round for us."
And is he confident the club can reverse the bitterly disappointing trends of the season so far?
"Absolutely. With the chances we have created since the start of the season we should be a lot higher up the league than we are," he added.
"If we can maintain that I think it's going to turn.
"It's only a matter of time.
"We can't keep creating all those chances and not score more than just one goal."
Meanwhile, the manager has suffered more than most as he has been forced to look on as chances to win many more points have been spurned.
But Kidd remains certain that good times are on their way.
"Come what may, it will take off. There's no doubt about that," he said.
"It's well within the capabilities of these lads.
"They'll hit a run and it will be a long one.
"I couldn't have asked any more from the club. The backing from Mr Walker has been superb and the fans have been very patient.
"Mr Walker, the club and the fans deserve more but it hasn't been for the want of not working at it."
Garry Flitcroft is making good progress but will not be back in action until the New Year.
The midfielder said that his knee was much better since a second bout of surgery to sort out the swelling which had held him back.
But, after being out for over a year, Rovers will not take any chances with Flitcroft's fitness until they are sure he is 100 per cent.
