A MRS C. Schneider is seeking information on a Radcliffe Hall, where her great grandmother may have worked.
Her grandma was born in 1872 at 8 Hilton Lane, Radcliffe. Her mother, Elizabeth Bartley, lived at some time at 1 Tower Road, Radcliffe Hall, Radcliffe.
Mrs Schneider says she has tried to get information on a big house in the area around 1872, but no luck. Was Tower Road near the Radcliffe Tower knocked down in 1940, she wonders?
Elizabeth was apparently a live-in maid at a big house in 1872, and the father, name unknown, was allegedly a son of the family she worked for: a sea captain who never returned home. She married a James Wright, a labourer in a bleach works.
Mrs Schneider is at 12 Hartley Avenue, Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear NE26 3NT.
