A MULTI-MARATHON run across France raised £18,000 for a new scanner at Leigh Infirmary.
Eric Greenhalgh - who lost his wife Jenny to breast cancer - led a group of 20 Park Lane Club runners from Angers to Haigh Hall.
With a three-strong back-up team the runners completed hundreds of miles in a long range relay.
On Monday Eric will present the new breast scanner for use in the outpatient department at Leigh, where a plaque will be unveiled in memory of Jenny.
Veronica Swinburne of Leigh NHS Trust, said: "The energy and effort that has gone in to raising this money is really impressive, and we are delighted to see the new scanner being used for the benefit of local people."
