ANTI-XANADU campaigner Chris Maile has left the Green Party.
But he has picked up another banner and is concentrating on setting up the national 'Campaign for Planning Sanity'.
Mr Maile will launch his new campaign at the end of the month. And he has promised not to leave local politics saying a full slate of green campaigners will stand at next year's May elections.
He told The Journal: "While I am sad not to be working under the Green Party banner, the opportunity to concentrate on planning issues will enable me to achieve much more, not only locally, but regionally and nationally."
NW Green Party spokesman Spencer Fitz-Gibbon said he was sure the CPS would develop into a "campaign of national importance".
"Its success depends upon cross-party support and so it's most appropriate that the campaign sets off as a non-party political endeavour.
"We valued the work Chris did in Wigan and as NW Press Officer. We are sorry to see him go."
