ST MARY'S College in Blackburn is celebrating victory in the National Catholic Colleges Cross Country Championships.
The team of five won the Under-19s boys title at St Helens with Michael Hammer second, Robert Barton third, Liam Barton ninth, Lee Cook 12th and Mark Emmett 13th.
Every point was vital as St Mary's won on countback after the scores were tied. The Blackburn team won the contest because the final member of their team was ahead of their rivals' final counter.
Christine Nicholson competed for St Mary's in the under 19 race, and St Bede's of Blackburn were represented by under 15 Carrie Hamilton, 15th in year 10 and Anthony Morgan, 51st in year nine.
