AS Remembrance Sunday draws near, I am writing to urge the people of Blackburn and Darwen to once again donate generously to the Royal British legion's Poppy Appeal.
All the monies raised by the appeal go to assist servicemen and women who, by their courage and sacrifice, have enabled us to enjoy peaceful lives. The appeal also assists their families and it is a most worthwhile cause.
I know that the people of Blackburn and Darwen are of a most generous nature and so I would ask once again to please consider a donation towards this year's Poppy Appeal.
COUNCILLOR Salas R Kiani, Mayor, Blackburn with Darwen.
