LYTHAM Chess Club's fourth team were outclassed in their opening third division match at Blackpool seconds.
The strong Blackpool team ran out emphatic winners by 3- and only Lytham captain Pat Coleman troubled the scorers with a battling draw against Steve Duckworth.
The fifth team fought hard to draw 2-2 in their third division match against Cleveleys thirds.
Steven Luck and Steve Willdar won their games.
The first team were beaten in their first match in division 1 by Morecambe by 4-1 in a match reduced to five boards by prior agreement.
Peter Jowett and Darren Jones obtained draws.
In their next match, the first team let a 3-1 lead against Poulton's firsts slip by losing the last two games.
John Cooper, Doug Williams and Phil Raynor all won quickly.
