PLAY continued last Friday night in this year's John Smith's Hyndburn Darts Knockouts at Platts Social Club.
Last year's individual winner Louis Blundell of the Spinners Arms was taken all the way in the best match so far in this year's competition by host club player Mick Abbott.
Mick took the first leg with a 15 darts game before the champ hit back to take the next two legs in a great 14-dart game for his 2-1 win. Other good performances on the night came from Tony Place and Andy Turner of the Toll Bar who hit a 14-dart leg in the Mens Pairs. Dave Baxter of the Plough, Great Harwood hit two maximum 180s in his 2-0 win, two maximums also came from Dave Szerlowski of Colne Con Club, but the best leg to date in this year's competition came in the Mixed Doubles when Louis Blundell teamed up with Heather Draper of Platts Club and they hit a tremendous 13-dart leg. Play continues tonight with two former individual winners - Andy Gudgeon (Dog & Partridge) and Chris McTiernan (Griffin's Head) looking to progress further in this year's competition.
