IT was rough luck for the St Helens Primary Schools football team in the Merseyside Seven-a-Side Inter-Association Tournament. They drew 0-0 with Kirkby, but a deflected free-kick consigned them to a 1-0 defeat against eventual winners and hosts Crosby. St Helens also sent an under 11 team to Tameside, where they were beaten 3-2. They would have earned a share of the spoils but for Tameside's bizarre first goal. The ball went over the bar and rolled through a hole in the back of the net. But the score was allowed to stand. John Bathurst and Jamie Anderson scored the St Helens goals. Man of the match was John Holmes. This Saturday the squad travel to Lancaster for a 10.30am kick-off.
