Adlington Rangers 38 Parr Hare & Hounds 10 A DEPLETED Hounds side put up a brave performance against an Adlington outfit who have lost only one match this season.
The final scoreline flattered the home men suggesting there will be little to choose between the sides when they clash again at Parr Stocks this weekend in the North West Counties Challenge Cup.
After arriving late, Hounds were hit by a 16-point scoring burst before they had found their feet. They opened their account when lively full-back Neil Briers was awarded a penalty try, converted by debutant scrum-half Kevin Parylo. But Adlington restored their advantage with another six-pointer before the break.
A controversial try on the re-start signalled another scoring burst by the homesters which saw them forge 38-6 ahead.
But Hounds stuck to their task and finished the stronger, grabbing a well-deserved consolation try by stand-off Paul Thompson.
Hard-working hooker John Paton was the Dolphin Glass man-of-the-match for Hounds, with Parylo and Briers also in contention.
