HOTEL guests in St Annes can scarcely believe their eyes when they see "Becks" playing up the mid-field of the dining-room.
For Fernlea Hotel waiter Steve Gladwin is a dead ringer for the Manchester United superstar David Beckham.
The Citizen tracked him down after a keen United fan did a double-take over his bacon and eggs and contacted us.
Steve, aged 20, of Park Road, St Annes, is used to the confusion by now. "I get it all the time," he said. "Not only people in the hotel tell me I look like him, but if I just go into a pub or walk down the street."
Which is all a bit galling for Steve as he is a long-time Blackburn Rovers supporter!
Steve wears his hair like the England international, but he said: "I had the style first. I've worn my hair like this for about four years."
The only person who does not acknowledge the resemblance is Steve's girlfriend, Gaynor. "But I think she only says that so I don't get big-headed."
Steve used to be a keen footballer himself in his native Yorkshire until he injured his ankle badly during a match just over two years ago, since when he has had to be content with scoring his goals in the catering trade.
What does he think of Spice? "Oh, I like a good curry now and then..."
