A THIEF sped off on a mountain bike with more than £1,000 in cash after carrying out a daylight robbery in Bury on Wednesday afternoon.
The two-wheeled raider rode up alongside a 54-year-old female shop worker has she made her way to the bank with the money in Broad Street.
Her handbag containing a total of £1,200 in loose coins and notes, was snatched from her shoulder and the thief made off.
Police are now investigating the street robbery and have issued a description of two men involved in the theft.
The bike rider is described as a white male, 18-25 years, slim and wearing a black bomber jacket, light blue jeans and a black baseball cap.
His accomplice is also a white male, of a similar age, and wearing a black jacket and baseball cap.
