A COUPLE who were left dangling on the side of a ferry which burst into flames killing 11 stowaways returned home on Tuesday.
Carmel Moore (47) and her partner Tasso Lekkas (50) feared they were going to be burned alive when the SuperFast III from Greece to Italy turned into a fire ball on November 1.
Now the couple are considering taking legal action against ferry owners SuperFast for the treatment they received during their nightmare trip.
The terrified couple from Manchester Road, Bury, said they were refused life jackets to "avoid panic". When they finally clambered onto a lifeboat the rope caught and they were left attached to the side of the burning ferry. They were finally freed but the rope snagged on the lifeboat propellers and they were left spinning in the sea for 45 minutes before help arrived.
The couple, who were in Greece to decorate a home they own there, had to wait 24 hours for a change of clothes and two days before seeing a doctor.
Mrs Moore said: "We are very shocked but glad to be home. We just want to see a doctor and have time on our own."
