MARLEY the cat with wanderlust is back safe and sound five weeks after he went missing from home and owner Suzanne Smith simply can't hide her delight.
The ginger tom went walkabout from Suzanne's new home on The Shires on Thursday, October 4, and since then Suzanne and her work colleagues from Express Computers in Greenfield Road, Dentons Green, have searched high and low for him.
Five weeks on they had virtually given up hope of finding the popular cat, who Suzanne adopted after he kept wandering into the Express Computers.
Then on Thursday, Nov 4, Suzanne was woken by a knock at the door. She remembers: "I got up and there was a young woman who said that she thought she and her friend had found Marley and that they had him in the car.
"The girls, who I believe were students at St Helens College had read my letter in the Star and had spotted Marley whilst walking to their car after college. They called him and he went straight to them.
"They then spent an hour trying to find my house, but didn't give up. When I got to their car I couldn't believe it was Marley. He was quite a bit thinner and had blisters on his feet, but otherwise he seemed fine after his ordeal."
Suzanne was so pleased at Marley's return that she gave him a feast of salmon that evening and she's determined that he won't be going walkabout again.
Suzanne, would however, like to find out who the two young women were who returned her beloved pet. She was so overcome to have him back that she forgot to ask their names and would like to get in touch with them.
